Full and Partial Dentures Los Alamitos

Dentures Los Alamitos CAWhen teeth are lost due to decay, trauma, aging, gum disease, or other issues, it can cause many problems.

Smiles with gaps can cause embarrassment and lead you to smile and laugh less in social situations. Missing teeth can change the way you bite and chew, putting undue stress on your remaining teeth as well as causing digestive problems from improperly chewed food. Even your speech can be affected by these missing teeth, causing a lisp or difficulty pronouncing certain sounds.

If you're missing several teeth or even all of your teeth, a set of custom-crafted and properly fitted removable dentures can solve these problems for you! Dentures can restore your smile and replace missing teeth, improving your pronunciation and speech and giving you back the ability to properly chew your food. Los Alamitos dentist Dr. Edward Luong offers a variety of denture options to fit every patient's unique needs.

Partial Dentures to Replace Missing Teeth

If you have lost multiple teeth but still have several healthy teeth, partial dentures can be a more affordable restoration alternative than multiple bridges or implants. Partial dentures use hand-crafted teeth in a gum-colored plastic base attached to either a metal framework or flexible plastic base.

These partial dentures attach to your remaining healthy teeth and should stay in place without dental adhesives if properly fitted. Fitting your partial dentures may require multiple adjustments, so it helps to be patient and make sure to tell Dr. Luong if there are any sore spots or if your denture appliance feels loose.

Full Dentures Restore Your Smile

If you are missing most or all of an entire arch (top or bottom) of your teeth, full dentures can restore these missing teeth. Our dental office in Los Alamitos can create a full denture for your top teeth, bottom teeth, or both top and bottom, depending on your needs.

Full dentures use suction and your tongue and cheek muscles to remain in place, or they can be attached to special implants for additional stability. These implant-supported dentures give you a very secure fit for your dentures while still retaining the ability to remove the dentures for cleaning.

How Are Dentures Made?

Custom-crafted dentures require several steps to ensure the best outcome. When we begin the process of crafting your dentures, one or more impressions of your mouth will be made. These impressions allow Dr. Luong and our highly-skilled lab to create dentures that will fit snugly and comfortably and look as natural as possible.

The lab will create the foundation of your dentures and send it to us for fitting. Adjustments can be made to ensure the perfect fit. Once the denture foundation is properly adjusted and fitting comfortably, we will match the color, shape, and size of any remaining teeth or help you select the color for your new teeth to give you a healthy, natural-looking smile.

The new teeth will be set into your dentures and returned to our Los Alamitos dental office for a final fitting. Once everything fits well and feels comfortable in your mouth, we will ask you to wear your dentures constantly at first. This process may be uncomfortable, but it will allow you to adjust to your new dentures quickly and will reveal any "trouble" areas where additional adjustment may be necessary.
